Wayne Deckard brought the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.

Wayne Deckard: We had an incident that led to an accident. Phil Chappell next door crashed his 182 airplane. They didn't bother checking the fuel tanks. This time of year there is lots of humidity and condensation that causes corrosion on tanks, gauges and sending units. Always check your tanks with dip sticks; don't rely on the gauge. This crash went from incident to accident because it tore up the firewall. Roy and I helped move the wreckage to his hangar.

WD: The contract is signed for the property lease for one year. New terms are that we pay for trash hauling, and no skydiving permitted.

WD: We have a letter from INDOT regarding our runway inspection. We have three things to resolve: some runway lights are burned out, some are missing lenses, and a couple of lights have some angle iron more than three inches above the ground. All of these must be resolved within 30 days of receipt of the Certified Letter (received on March 11). When they are done I need to sign the compliance notification and get it to INDOT.

WD: We have a volunteer signup for the Affordable Flying weekend, scheduled for June 17. That's Father's Day weekend, so if the dads get to do what they want, we could have a big turnout again this year. If you are going to be flying that day, make sure your planes are in annual, your physicals are up to date, etc. We will be buying gas again this year. Michael Mossman will be contacting the newspapers for publicity.

WD: The Air Boss should only worry about airplanes. Parking shoud be a separate matter.

Bill Wilson: Will try to contact Rollison and a couple other Sport Aircraft dealers.

John Snyder: We need a ticket or sign-in for better head count.

Roy Dawes: If they pick up a ticket and put in a basket for a door prize that will help us get a better head count.

WD: One line or two for food? Last year we had some long lines but they went pretty quick. I don't think that they should expect too much for free food.

John Snyder: Any sign-up for airplane rides? We need a release from the passenger. The loader should see the release form.

Erick Roldan: It is important to separate the people on the ramnp. Perhaps a rope for a gate. We need designated caps for schedulers

WD: We need good sized signs for sign up, etc.

Larry Poe: Last year we had a crush of people just before we were ready to serve food. We should close the hangar just before food service.

Fuel Report: Wayne says that self service 100LL is $4.85 in Louisville. We are paying on $2.60 here.

Chad Williams: Any report about next door?

WD: Jump school is not going to be an operation. He still might do a couple of weekends this year. The property owners were going to do something about the taxiway between his property and the airport but nothing is done yet.

Chad Williams: Treasurer's Report: $7,866.56 in account. All members are up to date. As a reminder, putting your fuel and rent information on the check helps tremendously. Also, we have a new weather station on the wall. We bought it for $240; our budget was $300. We are still looking for a base station radio. Roy's temporary radios will continue to work.

WD: Radio Shack has some transmitters that will work with our temporary or permanent base station. They can send a signal down to speakers that we can install all the way to the end of the hangars.

WD: I'd also like to build a patio and observation deck, it can help shade the building. Hendersons have no problem with it if it is not a permanent structure.

Chad Williams: We need some more of the forms filled out with member's current contact information. We have a few come in.

Michael Mossman: We have 31 members but only 15-16 are active. We will need lots more assistance outside of the group.

WD: Anyone know Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc.? They could work on a merit badge by assisting. Also a hockey team, softball team, etc. We could donate to their club if they could assist.

MM: We will need golf carts with "Follow Me" signs for aircraft parking, herding the crowds, etc.

Charlie Westerfield: I have two golf carts to bring. What about a P.A.?

Erick Roldan: We should request state troopers.

WD: We had a problem with parking last year. People were parking all along the road, all the way to the side roads. They were not parking along the lane at Browns because there was no sign. We can park there because Chappell doesn't own that lane, Hendersons own it.

NEW BUSINESS:

Gene Hollingsworth: We have a security issue. Shorty Graves and Don Deckard saw some people out here with flashlights along the back hangars. They left with their lights off, driving through Chappell's property. We need to lock the gate, also block off the lane aloong the back.

WD: Aviation thieves will check for headphones, radios and GPS. Don't keep this equipment in your airplane. If you see someone on the property that you don't know, be sure to pull behind them and ask who they know here.

Gene Hollingsworth motioned to close the meeting; Chuck Leucht seconded. All voted to close.

Minutes respectfully submitted by Michael Mossman, Association Secretary
