Wayne Deckard brought the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.

Wayne Deckard: It's now spring time. Make sure you check the grass taxiway before using it. Check for puddles; they will eat your lunch. Gene Hollingsworth will also have to fill the ruts.

Birds are building nests right now. If they get in your cowling their droppings will rust your cylinders. You may also end up with an engine compartment fire.

Maurice Hobson (EAA Chapter 67): EAA Chapter 67 in Noblesville and the EAA Warbirds chapter are looking to sponsor two 16-to-18-year-olds for their Aviation Camp scholarship. They will pay the entire $900 bill. They are looking for kids with good grades, and interest in aviation and aviation interest or support from their family. Maurice has sponsored several kids in the past who have gone on to aviation careers.

Michelle Emmert (CERT): The Boone County Emergency response Team was founded two years ago. They are a Community Emergency Response Team that does training for fire suppression, search & rescue, basic first aid and utility cut off. The CERT would like to use the airport facilities for training.

Pam Wagoner (CERT): I was deployed to three hurricanes this year. We are training to work in our own community but might deploy elsewhere. Members go as a team, never alone. We woudl like to use the facilities to train about once a month.

Wayne Deckard: Our biggest concern is safety. Also, we won't know everyone here. Security is an issue.

Pam Wagoner: CERT does background checks on all members, and has a waiver to protect an organization. CERT members practice on each other.

Wayne Deckard: We want the community to recognize our value as an airport, and this can help us. CERT wants to use our grounds. Who is in favor of allowing them to train on the airport property? All voted in favor; none opposed.

Wayne Deckard: Volunteers are needed for the cleanup. Lots of junk on the airport. Gather your stuff up because we will be cleaning hangars, especially the maintenance hangar. Things will get thrown away. Get with Michael Mossman or Wayne Deckard if you have in idea on what needs to be done to get ready for the open house.

  • Paint fences
  • Fix light bulbs
  • Clean property
  • Spray for weeds
  • Load of gravel
Wayne Deckard: We have 86 MPH winds last week. Aircraft parts will disappear in the wind.

Roy Dawes: The fuel pump on the dump truck is broken. Do not attempt to start it until it is fixed.

Wayne Deckard: We are in good shape on fuel. Numbers are balanced OK. Price for 100 LL is $2.60 per gallon.

Chad Williams Treasurer's Report: Balance is $8,038.35. All accounts are up to date. We can provide a detail statement from last year if needed.

Chad Williams: We are looking for a used based station but are having no luck getting one on eBay.

Chad Williams motioned that the club buy a new VAL base station for $1,300; Michael Mossman seconded. All voted in favor. Motion passed.

Chad Williams would like to recognize Chuck and Pam Leucht for cleaning the property weekly and keeping the pop and candy machines filled.

Wayne Deckard: We appreciate everyone keeping honest with the Coke machine.

Chad Williams: We have been able to keep the Operations Building supplied with the proceeds from the Coke money.

Wayne Deckard: There was a misunderstanding with the airport lease. We have since renewed it again with the Hendersons; we have a two-year lease again. We also have the right to lease a throughway to the Jump School if necessary.

Wayne Deckard: We would like to build a deck with an observation tower. Michael Mossman will come up with a basic design.

Michael Mossman; We still have the security issue along the back road. If someone comes onto the property like last month and we try to chase them off, they can escape around the back.

Gary Rogers: Get a chain so vehicles can't get through. Give Chappell a key if he needs access.

Wayne Deckard: We will need a volunteer to check the pole and chain. We will need an airport security notice sign.

Wayne Deckard: Should we sell T-shirts at the open house?

Michael Mossman: The volunteer shirts must be substantially different from the rest of the shirts. We cannot have someone who is not working with us walking around looking like a volunteer.

Maurice Hobson: The hog roasts gets biggee every year. You will need to start the food earlier.

Larry Poe: We can get a tent or awning to get people out of the hangar.

Wayne Deckard: Be sure to invite the Sports Pilot category people.

Michael Mossman is working on a flyer; he will take suggestions.

Gene Hollingsworth motioned to close the meeting; Roy Dawes seconded. All voted to close.

Minutes respectfully submitted by Michael Mossman, Association Secretary
